Deck Party - Thursday, July 23 2026
We are hosting our third annual Summer Deck Party on July 23. Please come.
Many thanks to Josh, founder of The District for his support and generosity in allowing us to use his space; he is an enthusiastic fan for turning our building into a community group and we are grateful to have such a great group of peeps in the building. Not only is Josh allowing us to use the north deck for our summer party but also the south deck for growing vegetables, fruit and herbs for distribution to everyone during the summer months.
The 2025 Deck Party was fun; and we expect each year to be slightly more rewarding than the previous year as we get to know you all. Food, and drinks served; games, and a DJ. Come hang with us.
See you on the deck.

Wellness Corner
Vancouver excels in the summer. This is what Time Out says about Vancouver: “Ranking above Buenos Aires, Cairo and Osaka, Vancouver ranked 37 on the top 50 list.
What makes Vancouver shine? Three words: the great outdoors. Few cities let you swim, cycle, and ski in a single day, with adventures available year-round and the Canadian Rockies just a short drive away. Picnic at Jericho Beach, bike Stanley Park’s seawall, soar above the Capilano Suspension Bridge, or chase powder on Grouse, Seymour, or Cypress Mountains—even after work. Add locally sourced produce and a concentration of award-winning chefs, and Vancouver is also a culinary hotspot. Time to get outdoors. Here are some of our favourite spots”.
Here is an excellent outdoor spot for you:
Jericho Sailing Centre
You can take sailing, windsurfing, standup paddling and skim boarding lessons here. Rent a kayak or dinghy. World-class city views!
and while there…
eat at The Galley Patio & Grill
Want a burger or fish and chips? Take a table here overlooking the sea.
Summer in the City
We know that some of our tenants have staff all over the world working remotely and that sometimes they visit us here. This section is for you or for those of you who work in our building but are new to Vancouver. Everyone knows about the hot tourist spots, Stanley Park, English Bay and Grouse Mountain, but here are some secret celebrations in our city this year, with an emphasis on summer fun.
SOME FUN EVENTS TO ENJOY THIS SUMMER:
Khatsalano Street Party - Saturday July 11. Enjoy music, art, food, community events.
Symphony at Sunset: Saturday July 11 at 8:00 pm at David Lam Park. Bring a blanket and enjoy live music.
Folk Festival: July 17, 18 and 19 at Jericho Beach Park. Come for the atmosphere as well as outstanding music. Over 40 artists over many stages for contemporary roots and blues, indie folk and world music.
Vancouver Pride Festival: July 25 to August 2. The parade is on August 2.
World Cup
You probably know that the World Cup is in Vancouver June 13 and July 7 for seven matches. Ticket prices are high but there are free events at the PNE for dedicated fans.
FIFA Fan Festival
If you don’t want to buy FIFA tickets, go to Hastings Park for the Fan Festival. Matches will be screened live. There will be live music and entertainment, both Canadian and international. Food and drink stalls. The new ampitheatre seats 10,000 and is worth a visit in itself.
Canada Day
Canada Place
Wednesday July 1 - celebrations take place in Steveston, Richmond and North Vancouver among other places. In Vancouver go to Canada Place - the celebrations are called Canada Together and will put you in the mood to celebrate a country that is increasingly celebrated on the world stage.
There is also a Canada Day ceremony at Granville Island from 12:00 to 12:50. There will be a giant cake cutting as well as live music and jazz (International Jazz Festival acts).
Granville Island
Grab some food for a picnic at the Public Market or enjoy a picnic with local wine. Another one of Vancouver’s great outdoor spots.
Our Neighbourhood
Pleasant Day Festival
Want to stay in our neighbourhood? Go to Pleasant Day Festival which features live performances at four outdoor stages. Also has a vendor market and many food trucks and restaurant pop-ups. Main Street will come alive from 16th Avenue to King Edward.
Mount Pleasant Micro-Roasteries
Mount Pleasant has coffee roasteries a little different from other parts of the city - they are imbued with the Mount Pleasant hood vibe. Watch the beans tumble and smell them before they hit the grinder. Prototype and Match Stick are a couple of the most popular ones but there are many more within a few blocks. The Cafe Culture here highlights taste more than branding and gives you a taste of the uniqueness of our neighbourhood.
Landlord Corner
Ken (Koo), Lauren and David (Altman) and Lesley all say: come to the deck party!
Great views, The District DJ, food from Peake Catering in Gastown and - of course - good people. Make a friend, enjoy a conversation, and take a break from scrolling! We’ll give you a good time.
Jonathan Rogers Park
We think that our next-door park is a real bonus to be treasured: our people and dogs love it. The community garden is guaranteed to lower your blood pressure during a difficult day. The dogs can run off any tension if they are also having a difficult day!
The City of Vancouver recently asked the public for their input on ways to improve the park as part of their city improvement plan (which closed in May). Several approved that there will be a dedicated off-leash dog area. There will also be a lot more seating options in general which will also accommodate rainy weather. There will be additional sloping paths for easier access to different areas of the park and the large open areas will still be honoured.
